The 2019 Dakar will mark a time in the history of this event. It has been the emergence of the Side-by-Side (SxS, in acronym), four-wheeled vehicles, 600 kilos of weight and 150 horsepower. A specialty that has been agile, spectacular and tremendously competitive with continuous important changes in the general and varied stage triumphs. The awards ceremony was already talking about the Side-by-Side replacing the cars.

And within this very competitive category, J.JUAN has shined with its own light thanks to the teams using their brakes and reaching the first 19 places in the category. In fact, between of the 52 vehicles that took the start in Lima, only 26 arrived at the end. Among them, 23 vehicles were equipped with the brakes of the European company. A great success for J.JUAN.

For the Side-by-Side category, J.JUAN -decided to create a competition kit expressely dedicated for the CanAm Maverick X3, because this is a vehicle competing in very tough events (Baja 1000, Best in The Desert, Dakar, World All Terrain) and allowing to serve as testing bench for the strength and hardness of other motorcycle brake systems, perhaps apparently simpler but not exempt from safety, reliability, feeling and response requirements.

Which are the main peculiarities of the J.Juan brakes equipping the official Can-Am? First of all the excellent mechanization and the good finishing are greatly influencing the safety of the entire brake system. A greater braking efficiency is obtained thanks to the titanium manufacturing helping to prevent high temperature levels. The J.JUAN competition clamps have a rear opening allowing to eliminate the excess of mud that in other type of clamps used in the Maverick stay inside and diminish the braking power. The opening, in addition, helps to a better ventilation of the tweezers and discs and prevents the unpleasant effect that supposes the overheating in full competition, letting often the drivers without brakes. As concern the original calipers, those of J.JUAN are 11cm wider and 1 cm thicker, although at the same time they are 300 grams lighter. And also bleeding is very easy!

But, how the brakes kit is working? It is a Plug & Play Kit that does not require modifications to the vehicle, consisting of four differentiated clamps, each one in front, behind and right and left, four discs and their special pads. The calipers are made of four titanium pistons for thermal insulation of the brake fluid, wwith an improvement of 110%. In addition, they are asymmetric allowing a better rush of the disc and longer life of the pads. The clamps are floating with open bridge that allows the cooling of the brake pads and provides a performance improvement of 30%, as they have been proven in the endurance races.

So, a great a great worldwide result for J.JUAN brakes at Dakar 2019, thanks to the partnership with South Racing Team, the USA company chosing to face the most beautiful race in the world equipping the vehicles with the J.JUAN racing braking kit, after a test achived equipping in 2018 more than 50 competition Maverick units with the brakes produced J.JUAN for this type of vehicles. Their agility and maneuverability, gives the vehicles a sporty spirit that is convincing and converting the great rally drivers and riders coming from cars and motorcycles.
